Community Development Worker Update August 2016

I have been working in the part-time community development post since April/May and initially spent my time meeting with groups to discuss their aspirations and needs. A big need is clearly resources – both financial and people. As a response I have helped with drawing up role descriptions for voluntary positions (e.g. in the community library) and will now aim to publicise these as widely as possible. I have also completed a bid for funding for a new inter-generational reminiscence project based at the Elder Persons Support Project which would focus on using the internet to foster discussion and share memories. In addition, I have met with volunteers at the Ewart Road Club House with a view to developing a project for a sensory garden and 12 month volunteer gardening project there. In response to the need for improved wifi at several community centres, I am developing a local ward assembly funding bid intended to get these centres online.  Finally I have been helping with the planning for Croftfest 2016 which as promises to be an excellent day with something for the whole community - please keep Saturday 24th September free!  As always I am always happy to receive calls or emails from people with innovative ideas for new projects or any community needs that that they feel are not at present being met.  Feel free to contact me on: Email: or via mobile: 07905 164 705
