The rooms are delightful surprise to many. They were developed from the former weekday chapel and vestries by Fr S Bates with the support of St Hilda's Congregation and Lewisham Borough council between. We started the project by collecting £5 notes ina jar at the Weekday Eucharist, selling the old pews, and letting the chapel sundays to a delightful small church serving mainly West Indian elders. We achieved two rounds of faith small grants form LBL and a grant from a Church of England special community fund. Since then weve rasied everything ourselves to achive complete refurbishment with modern lavtories - and a church office in the tower above.
St Hilda's Community wing 'Crofton Park Community Link' now supports as many as 50 different activities for community health and social wellbeing for all ages and kinds of people.
